Exciting things are happening this winter!

Welcome to the New Art Center’s Winter Semester of classes and events. We have a 40-year history of inspiring creative expression, and we look forward to welcoming you through our doors to continue that tradition. Whether you’ve been in the New Art Center “family” for a long time, or you are just peeking in the doors for the first time, we encourage your appetite for discovery, creative conversation, and creative expression through all kinds of media. Browse through our course and workshop offerings, and join this wonderful community, where exploration and learning in a non-judgmental environment has changed lives!

We offer everyone, at all levels of ability, exceptional opportunities to make, exhibit, view, think about and talk about art. We believe that these practices help human beings learn from their environment, solve problems, build durable communities, and live meaningful lives. For these reasons, our offerings are designed to lower barriers to participation – so as they say, “the water’s fine”…we invite you to jump in, and enjoy a winter of expression with us!

Our educational programming is stronger than it’s ever been, and our teachers and exceptional staff are engaged and focused on all of you, and your experience at NAC. On the building front, we’ve learned just how expensive it would be to renovate our wonderful, historic structure. As we consider potential candidates for the Executive Director position, our focus will be on finding someone who holds all of our values dear, and at the same time can envision and explore bold new opportunities for housing the growth of our classes and programs. This is going to be a multi-year project, and we’re just getting started – in the meantime, we promise to keep you informed and engaged, and to keep this building in one piece!

We fully understand how much the exhibitions program is loved and missed, and have every hope of a revitalized program, which we offer to the public at no charge, when we are able to fully support it. While exhibitions are currently suspended, the main gallery is being utilized for additional classroom space, and we will continue to present Holzwasser Gallery exhibitions of student and faculty work, installed and managed by the artists themselves, as well as Newton Open Studios.

Thank you for being part of the incredible community of students, educators, art lovers, friends, supporters and partners in our mission. On behalf of the entire Board of Governors, I invite you to be in touch, and join us on our continued journey.
