Dates: Jan 22 – Mar 5
Details: Fridays, 6 Sessions
Times: 10:00AM – 1:00PM
Notes: no class 2/19
While photography usually acknowledges two types of image making, analog and digital, in this six-session class we’ll explore a third category of photography: the image transfer. Based in chemical photographic techniques, we’ll learn about alternative photographic processes to create dream-like images on various surfaces. The course will begin with standard image transfers using a laser printer, and continue to more complex techniques such as cyanotypes and Polaroid emulsion lifts. Images will be produced on a variety of surfaces like glass, paper, or wood. The class will conclude with a thematically informed final project of five image transfers in one medium of the student’s choosing. A small amount of time working outside of class may be necessary.
