9/15 – 9/17
Wednesday & Friday, 2 Sessions

This two-session workshop introduces hand weaving as students design and weave a scarf to take home at the end of the workshop. Students will use a pre-warped rigid heddle loom and will be guided through weaving an infinity scarf using designer yarns of the students’ choice. No previous experience is required.
Fall Impressions Cyanotype Workshop – AWF21602
10/02 – 10/03
Saturday and Sunday, 2 Sessions
10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Instructor: Kyle Mendelsohn
Make beautiful blue cyanotype prints on fabric and watercolor paper with this fun and easy two-day workshop for adults! Cyanotypes, otherwise known as blueprints, are one of the earliest forms of photography. By laying 2D objects on top of chemically treated material, you’ll create a deep blue print with bright, ghost-white silhouettes.
Bring your own fall botanicals, book pages, jewelry, tea, black and white photographic film negatives, or anything else you want to try! All other materials will be supplied by the New Art Center. At the end of day one, you’ll mount your fabric print in an embroidery hoop so that it is ready to hang. On the second day, you’ll work with cyanotype treated watercolor paper.
Block Printing Gift Wrap Workshop – AWF21401
11/14
Sunday, 1 Session
10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Instructor: Abbie Ireland
In this 3-hour workshop, students will learn the basics of relief printing by designing and carving linoleum blocks to print custom gift wrap. We will cover the techniques needed to adapt designs for relief printing. Stamps will be carved by hand using linoleum carving tools, brayers, hand barens, and printed using oil-based inks on brown craft paper.
Baubles and Beading Workshop – TWF21801
11/20
Saturday, 1 Session
1:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Instructor: Carole Pugliese
In this one day workshop you will learn how to design patterns, choose beads, string and finish a necklace and make a pair of earrings. All materials will be supplied, including a large selection of beads (and a select choice of some one-of-a-kind beads available for sale). You are also welcome to bring in beads you have purchased or beads from broken or inherited necklaces that you would like to incorporate in your piece. Perfect for parents and teens, this workshop is open to all levels of ability.
