Loading Classes

Dates: Apr 27 – May 18
Details: Tuesdays, 4 Sessions
Times: 10:00AM – 2:00PM
Notes:

Learn the materials and methods to create your own original beautiful Mexican smalti mosaic. Mexican smalti is a high-quality handmade glass mosaic in a square to rectangular module that offers a broad range of colors from subtle skin tones to vibrant primaries. Students will bring a design for your choice for a 9” square. In the studio, teacher and artist Joshua Winer will teach you to transfer the design onto a panel, cover the panel with webbing, cut and build the mosaic onto the webbing using Adamento flowing rhythms and Opus styles (including Vermiculatum, Musivum, and Regulatum), lift the mosaic with clear adhesive film, and cement the work into colored thin-set.
