Collage is a versatile art technique that involves endless choices and possibilities for creating art pieces by assembling different materials onto a two-dimensional surface. This class will focus first on creating “raw materials” – painted and textured papers that we will combine to create unique, personal, painterly collages. Through demonstrations and experimentation, students will learn many techniques to create raw materials, such as glazing, stippling, gesso printing, mark-making, and pigment scraping. Class will then explore basic collage techniques to create professional, well-designed works of art. No previous experience required. See website for materials list.
