Break free of realism while discovering special effects for watercolor. Using expedition, aerial and NASA photography, we will explore techniques used by professional watercolorists to achieve evocative abstract paintings. Enjoy waterblooms, wet-in-wet, wash-off and other exciting watercolor techniques to see how they might fuel your imagination. We will rely on well-established theories of modernist color and composition to find a path to your work based on the inspiring masterworks of Paul Klee, Clifford Still, Annie & Joseph Albers and others. No more guessing— let techniques and color move you to develop abstract art that is meaningful to you, personally. Tube watercolor paint is recommended for this class. All levels welcome.
