An exciting gouache illustration overview! We will compare types of gouache, acrylic gouache, and transparent watercolor, and combine diverse watermedia for exciting effects. We will use traditional brushwork, and also see an airbrush demonstration with a discussion about techniques and the safe use of atomized pigments. Explore the illustration process from idea to research and reference, producing a rough sketch and “color comp,” adhering to a press format, understanding print specifications, cropping and bleeds, adding text, CMYK vs. RGB color modes, and preparing illustrations for press. Create several complete illustrations suitable for reproduction as cards or part of a larger book project. See website for supply list.
