Learn the basics of relief printing by designing and carving linoleum blocks. Students will start by adapting their designs, drawings, and personal imagery for the relief printing format and then explore further with techniques such as reductive cutting, multi-color, multi-block, and editioning prints to create dynamic and finished visual works. Work will be printed and carved by hand using linoleum carving tools, brayers, oil-based inks, and hand barens. See website for materials list.

Classes Navigation

In the event of a COVID-related building closure, in-person classes will continue with live online learning (Zoom). In the case of equipment-intensive courses, the curriculum may be adjusted slightly. For example, all ceramics classes will continue with a handbuilding focus.

Please Note: Online registration for classes that begin on Monday or Saturday close the Friday before at 12PM. Online registration for classes that begin on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday close on the day before at 12PM. If class registration has closed online and you are interested in registering, please email Marte at marte@newartcenter.org.
