Watercolor – Diane Fiedler
In this 4-week intensive, study how to dovetail the many special, entertaining techniques of watercolor into your summer paintings. Create shady forest scenes and garden flowers with dappled light with color glazing, explore granulation for tree bark, and use natural sponges for texturing tidepool rocks. Test different kinds of friskets and resists. Conquer salt effects once and for all. Learn scraping for beach grass and alcohol effects for dandelions. Explore gouache wash-off techniques to portray fog at dawn on the lake. We’ll use simple exercises portraying beach scenes, New England woods, and backyard gardens so that you are ready for exciting results you journal, plein air paint, or relax in the backyard.
