Debra Claffey

Debra Claffey is a visual artist based in New Hampshire who uses encaustic, oil, and mixed media in her work. Claffey writes a blog called Making Something Out of Nothing and has curated five exhibitions. She is intrigued by the biological intelligence, fractal design, and stunning beauty of plant systems. She turns her vision into pattern and rhythm, color and form, then into a personal and unique expression of her awareness. She sees her pieces as orchestrations of light and dark, shape and rhythm.

She holds a BFA in Painting from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and Tufts University and an Associate’s Degree in Horticultural Technology from the University of New Hampshire. She has taught at the New Art Center since 2018.
