The New Art Center, on behalf of Chestnut Hill Square, seeks an artist or artist team to develop and install a bold, and site-specific work of temporary public art to enhance the visitor experience. To be installed in September 2024 and on view through Spring 2025, the project should be designed to be maintained and to withstand the elements.
Chestnut Hill Square in Chestnut Hill, MA is home to Wegmans, SoulCycle, sweetgreen, Anthropologie, Equinox and many other high-end retailers. Developed and managed by New England Development, this outdoor shopping center has also become a home for public art projects, such as “The Block” by Liz Helfer in 2023, which can be seen here.
$11,000 for an artist/artist team, inclusive of all project development, material, supplies, building, installation and maintenance:
- Call Opens: Tuesday, September 24th via Cognito
- Call Closes: Friday, November 8 at 11:59 PM
- Selected Artist/artist team will be notified by: Friday, November 15th
- Project contracts completed by: December 20th, 2024.
- The project will be completed, installed, and on view by Monday, May 5th, and will remain on until mid-fall 2025 unless earlier removal is requested.
