Visioning Trane: Five Questions

Join an open, free-wielding, improvisational conversation with the artists and curator of VISIONS OF TRANE, as we pose to them five questions related to the revolutionary nature of John Coltrane, the nature of their practice, and how we might all engage and explore new territory in the process of making.

The New Art Center will feature this virtual artist’s conversation free and open to a global audience through Zoom, on Thursday April 11th at 6pm EST.

In a Moment’s Notice-a sound happening

Take part in New Art Center’s first “happening,” as Dr. Terry Jenoure takes us through a series of sonic moments aimed at enriching our experience of the now. Participants are encouraged to engage with Terry’s prompts in a variety of ways – through quiet meditation, by moving within your space, by taking pen to paper and making marks, or through deep listening and talkback.

Coined in the 1950’s by Allan Kaprow, “happenings” are live events that combine improvisation, sound or visual art, performance, or rituals of everyday life, within a room or space.  VISIONS OF TRANE steps up the beat and brings this program to you virtually.

Participants can join the event virtual on Zoom beginning at 6pm on Tuesday, April 16th as the New Art Center embraces community across time and space.

VISIONS OF TRANE artists:

Julie Fei-Fan Balzer, Andres Chaparo, Terry Jenoure, Iwalani Kaluhiokalani, and Kenson Truong.
