Summer Art Camp

Spooky week included making haunted house scenes out of paper, cardboard and other mixed media in 3D art class. In 2D, students made their own patterned monsters, drew animal skeletons using chalk on black paper with colorful embellishments, and painted zombie portraits. Students sculpted roll-a-monsters out of air dry clay (played a game in which they rolled dice in order to determine different characteristics to include) and made spooky character pinch pots in ceramics. During movement class, they searched for skeletons, played zombie capture the flag and painted chalk murals around campus. Groups worked together in Performance to create plays that were extra silly and just a little bit spooky…

Teen Art Studios

In Digital Character Design week the teens used Procreate on the iPads. They explored how shape and color can influence how a character is perceived and then created their own characters. Students also redesigned characters from Mean Girls and Alice in Wonderland into their own styles. They learned about drawing turnarounds of characters as well as the importance of a character’s setting. They finished the week by making comics about the everyday lives of their characters. In Ceramics, we saw some spooky pitchers and other pots.
