Graduating with a Studio Diploma in 1987 followed by a 5th-Year Program first prize from the SMFA, Boston, Wilson has been granted several artist residencies, including The MacDowell Colony, Yaddo, and the Ucross Foundation.  In 2013 he completed a successful Kickstarter campaign, “91 Paintings In 91 Days,” and was awarded a grant from the Artist’s Resource Trust of the  Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation

Michael has shown his paintings in galleries in New York City, Los Angeles, Denver, Santa Fe, and Boston, and been co-owner and director of OZ Gallery in Provincetown, MA for 5 years.  His paintings are in many corporate collections in the U.S. and abroad, including Fidelity Investment Corp., Ritz Carlton, Hyatt and Sheraton hotels, Ssang Yong Corp. of Seoul, South Korea.

Wilson has been a painting and drawing teacher off and on for over 20 years, at the SMFA, for the Waltham Arts Council and currently at the New Arts Center in Newton.

REGISTRATION POLICIES

Insufficient Enrollment: The New Art Center will make a full refund for any class cancelled due to insufficient enrollment.

Withdrawal: Up to 7 days before the first class, you may withdraw for a refund, less a $25 administrative fee per class. For any tuition payments paid by credit card your full convenience fees will be deducted from your refund. Withdrawals from classes, workshops, and events under $40 are eligible for course credit only, less a $10 fee or the full tuition amount can be donated to the New Art Center. Donors will receive an acknowledgment letter for tax purposes. Course credits are good for 1 year from the date of issue, after which time you will receive an acknowledgment letter for tax purposes.

Summer Camp Withdrawal: All withdrawals for our Summer Camp must be made by June 9 to receive a refund, less a $25 administrative fee per week. For any tuition payments paid by credit card, your full convenience fees will be deducted from your refund.

Student Absences: No refunds will be made for student absences including absences due to COVID or other sickness. We understand that students may have to miss class for a variety of reasons, but New Art decides whether or not to run a class before the term starts based on enrollment and sufficient tuition to cover our costs. Refunding students for individual absences makes it difficult to calculate a breakeven point for each class.

Faculty Absences: All efforts will be made to find a substitute for faculty absences. In the event that a class must be cancelled, students will be notified by email, which will be sent to the address provided during registration. One makeup class will be scheduled each term for a single absence by a faculty member. For multiple absences, a substitute faculty member will be assigned. There will be no refunds for faculty absences.

Scholarships: Limited scholarships are available according to need. Please apply here.
