ART CAMP
Campers have been busy bees this week! In movement, campers have been zapping “fly” balloons, untangling webs and bug hotels. Students are polishing their acting and improv skills in performance class, while also making their show props and costume accessories in time for Friday’s shows. In 2D, students painted bug scenes on canvas and created themed board games to play with friends. In 3D, classes are building plaster bugs in their mini habitats. Finally, students made bug-filled glass jars that got fired in the kiln, as well as clay bugs and leaf plates.
Teen Art Studios
This week we focused on collage and mixed media assemblage. Students painted papers, cut and ripped magazines and newspapers, and explored other materials like pipe cleaners, pompoms, and stickers to create beautiful collages! They completed mini projects inspired by journal writing, favorite characters, and surrealism. They finished the week creating one larger project inspired by whatever they enjoyed from the week.
Students learned to throw and trim on the wheel to make small pots and mugs. They also handbuilt bowls shaped like hearts, turtles, cakes, flowers, and even sharks! They finished the week by glazing all of their pieces to be ready for the kiln.
