Rooted in the concept of Healing Justice, Art as Salve showcases responses and interventions to generational trauma and violence with the hope of impactful change to mend our bodies, hearts and minds. The exhibit, Art as Salve, asks the question – how might art function as a holistic intervention for survivors of oppression and violence? What would happen if art was used as a symbol for healing?
BIPOC Curatorial Program curator Ashleigh Dior Coren leads a close looking tour through the New Art Corridor with details on the works she selected for the exhibition. Explore the theme of Art as Salve and healing justice in a small group. End the visit to the gallery with an exercise to reflect on the past few years and create your own piece of art.
