Please note that we cannot process registrations over the phone, but are happy to support you as you register online.

PAYMENT
Payment is due at the time of registration and is required to reserve your spot in a class.
Prorated fees: We do not prorate tuition for missed classes during a session.
Returned payments: If your ACH/e-check payment is returned by our processor, a $25 fee will be charged to reprocess it.
Confirmation: Online registrants receive an immediate transaction receipt. Registrations are processed in the order received, and a course confirmation is emailed about one week before the class starts. We will contact you directly if there’s a scheduling conflict.
Membership discounts are available online through your account once you log in.
Gift certificates are available in any amount and can be purchased through our website.
Certificates bought online can be applied to tuition directly through your account.
Certificates received through an organization/auction can be redeemed on our website.
REFUNDS & CREDIT
Insufficient enrollment: If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment, you’ll receive a full tuition refund.
Withdrawing up to 14 days before class starts: A $25 administrative fee applies. If tuition was paid by credit card, the card processing fee is also deducted from your refund.
Withdrawing within 14 days of class start: No refunds or credits are issued.
Student absences: No refunds or credits for missed classes.
Summer Camp Refund: Cancel before the early cancellation deadline for a full refund, minus a $25 administrative fee. Cancel between the early cancellation deadline and two weeks prior to your camp week for a 50% refund. Cancellations made within two weeks of your camp week’s start date are non-refundable.
TUITION INCREASES & ASSISTANCE
We believe financial circumstances shouldn’t stand in the way of making art. We aim to keep pricing transparent while paying our faculty and staff fairly, which means tuition may increase periodically as labor and material costs rise. If cost is a barrier, our need-based Tuition Assistance Program offers partial or full support for children, teens, and adults. Learn more here.
Limited scholarships are also available each term based on need — apply here or call the office to learn more.
CLASS CONFIRMATION & WAITLISTS
Confirmation: Register early to help your class run. Classes are confirmed about a week before the start date, once minimum enrollment is met.
Waitlists: If a class is full, join the (free) waitlist; you’re never obligated to accept a spot if one opens up.
Late registration: If online registration has closed, email info@newartcenter.org. Late registrations may be accepted after a class begins, with instructor approval and space permitting.
Trial classes: We don’t currently offer trial classes, but “Try-It” workshops are available most terms – please consult the course listings online.
ONLINE CLASSES
Meeting links are sent by email with your class confirmation. If you don’t receive one, check your Spam and Promotions folders – some email providers filter our messages.
Technical issues: Please test your meeting platform ahead of time. We’re unable to offer refunds for last-minute technical difficulties or late arrivals.
INSTRUCTOR & SCHEDULE CHANGES
Instructor changes: If we need to change an instructor, we’ll notify the class directly. Refunds are not offered for instructor changes.
Faculty absences: We’ll make every effort to find a substitute. If a class must be cancelled, students are notified by email of the make-up date. One make-up class is scheduled per term for a single absence; a substitute is assigned for multiple absences. Refunds are not offered for faculty absences.
Weather cancellations: The New Art Center follows Newton Public Schools for closures due to inclement weather. Visit our website newartcenter.org to check class status during inclement weather. If your class is cancelled, we’ll share a make-up date as soon as possible. We can’t offer separate make-up dates for individual scheduling conflicts, and refunds aren’t provided for weather-related changes.
MATERIALS
We recommend waiting to purchase supplies until your class is confirmed — supplies ordered online may take longer than a week to arrive.
