Summer Art Camp

Under the sea week has been full of bold colors and creative expression inspired by the ocean! Students created 3D fish sculptures using plastic cups, cardboard and newspaper as the base, which then got covered with paper mache before being transformed into colorful tropical fish using tissue paper instead of paint. In 2D, students made multi-media pieces on small canvases with subject matter ranging from fish to mermaids and everything in between. During movement class, students used shaving cream marbling techniques and texture rubbings to create colorful coral reef collages. They also played themed games throughout the week to stay active. In clay, students made pinch pot fish with wide open mouths as well as tide pool trinket dishes! On Friday afternoon, groups will perform plays they have adapted based off of classic ocean-themed poems and stories.

Teen Art Studios

Students in Week 9 Teen Studios painted landscapes. They began the week sketching from images of various landscapes. Next they spent a few days walking to the local park and painting outside from life! They finished off the week with abstract landscape paintings.
