We are in the process of transitioning to a new registration system called Art Center Canvas. It’s a registration system used by many art centers around the country. Because it is used by so many similar institutions, it caters towards the work we do, providing ease of use and stability. Winter term 2024 will be the last term where you will register for classes on newartcenter.org. When it comes time to launch spring, you will find all those classes here: https://canvas.newartcenter.org/classes.
As we move forward, there are some differences between how you enroll on our current website and in this new system that I will outline below.
A User Account is Required
This registration system requires every household to have an account to register for classes. The head of household (primary purchaser) should create the account. This is usually the parent who is purchasing for the child, or an adult purchasing for themselves. Once the account is created, the head of household can add their family members. For example, if I want to register my child for summer art camp, I would create an account in my name, and then register my child for the class.
The benefits to an account will allow you to check membership status, enrollments and update your contact information. You can also save your payment method for convenience.
Age Restrictions
You may have noticed that if you attempt to add a camp week to your cart and check out, the system will recognize that an adult is registering for a child class. This helps us keep the right person enrolled. Simply add the right registrant (fill out your students information) and the camp will be added to the cart.
Membership
This system is also particular about membership. If you purchase a student membership, it must be attributed to your student. If you have two students, you will need two student memberships ($70). If you are also interested in registering for a class, purchasing a family membership gives the entire household the discount.
Your New Art membership is applicable in both systems until we completely move to Art Center Canvas. If you are already a member, you have a membership account in both places. If you purchase a membership in the wrong place, we can help you sort it out. Once the old system closes down, there won’t be this issue.
However, if you don’t have a membership yet, you will need to purchase it and the class you want to enroll in on the same system.
