Dates: 3/12
Details: Sunday, 1 Session
Times: 2:00 PM – 4:30 PM
Carving fresh, found wood into useful objects is a fun, relaxing, satisfying hobby. In this class we will cover an overview of this “green” woodworking, including tools, materials, process, technique, and safety. There will be a demonstration of the early part of the process – turning a log into a rough carving blank with an axe. Then students will get their own knives and learn safe, effective knife grips. Finally, we’ll move onto carving wooden butter/cheese knives for you to take home. We’ll wrap up with a discussion on finishing touches and decoration possibilities to finish at home. Students in grades 9-12 are welcome to register if accompanied by a registered adult.
