Summer Art Camp

This week we drew inspiration from the Art of Ancient civilizations! In both 2D and 3D, students explored ancient languages, symbols and artifacts from other countries and cultures before diving into their own projects. 3D students made paper mache vases modeled after the Ming era in China complete with thin blue acrylic line designs, as well as aboriginal rain sticks from South America adorned with their own symbols and designs. In 2D, students made original patterns for their own hand drawn tiles, and mini frescos with special symbolic paintings. During performance class, students wrote their own plays about discovering mummies, treasure hunts and explorations of foreign lands. For movement class they dug up artifacts in the park and played a variety of themed games. During ceramics, students designed their own ancient doorways filled with textures and intricate designs along with pinch pots sculpted out of air dry clay, complete with careful details before being painted.

Teen Art Studios

Week 8 of teen studios was all about self portraits. Students painted and drew abstract self portraits throughout the week. They drew inspiration from music, nature, and quotes from books and poems.
