On June 3, we hosted a Drag Queen Story Hour with Missy Steak. Missy read four books to a gathered audience of children and adults. The stories were about courage, imagination, self-discovery and more! After the reading, families came together to do an art project based on the book, Julián Is a  Mermaid by Jessica Love.

Up next, New Art will be celebrating Pride this Saturday, June 17 at City Hall. In partnership with the City of Newton Health and Human Services, the Human Rights Commission, the Newton Youth Commission, and Lasell University, Celebration of Queer Culture highlights queer history, queer art, and the intersectionality within the queer community. This is an event created by young queer people that creates an informative and welcoming space where queerness is not just tolerated, but celebrated. New Art Center will be hosting make-and-take art activities centered around showing off your pride!
