To all who joined us on October 29, 2023 to celebrate Dia de los Muertos, we want to thank you! Our staff had a wonderful time engaging with guests and making art together.
We want to thank Lennon Hernandez Wolcott for being such a wonder emcee. We enjoyed the music of Los Sugar Kings and Mariachi Guadalajara, who provided traditional mariachi music.
Throughout the day, artists Cristobal Sanchez, Lennon, and other artists, led guests through art making activities: nicho boxes, luminaria bags, air dry clay calaveras, tissue paper flowers, and a Dia de los Muertos coloring ‘zine. Thanks to Casa del Pandebono for serving up tasty treats for hungry folks to enjoy.
Our altar honors the memories of people important to New Art staff. Among them, Brandon Lewis, a former New Art colleague, who worked to provide access to the arts. Our hearts are with them all.
We hope you will join us in the future for other community events. In the meantime, take a look at our upcoming classes and workshops. There will be more opportunities to gather, create, and appreciate the art that surrounds us.
Take a look at some of the photos from our event! Enjoy!
